Newsela Summer Reading Clubs 2017

Newsela Summer Reading Clubs 2017

Newsela’s Summer Reading Clubs are an easy way to encourage students in grades 2-12 to read online during the summer, keeping their reading skills sharp and exploring topics that interest them. Students who join a Summer Reading Club will receive ten assigned articles about the club topic, along with Write Prompts asking them to freewrite about the topic.

Students can join clubs now, or at any time during the summer. For more reading, have students join more than one club! Encourage both incoming and outgoing students to join Summer Reading Clubs—any teacher with a Newsela account can view student progress in Summer Reading Clubs in the PRO Binder (more details here).

All students can join Summer Reading Clubs by going to the Club Link OR by entering the Club Code on their “Account” page (students access their “Account” page by logging into Newsela and clicking their name in the upper right corner). Students without Newsela accounts can create accounts by going to Newsela.com and clicking "Join." All Club Links and Club Codes can be found in the list below.

For students with mobile devices: Newsela can also be accessed by downloading the Newsela app from iTunes or from the Google Play store (if students have limited internet access, they can read offline with those apps).

Here’s all you need to share with students and families (or use this PDF handout):
