Gun Policy and School Safety Polling Results
The results are in.
Last week, high school students on Newsela weighed in on a topic that’s on the mind of students and teachers everywhere: gun violence in schools. Students participated in a 5-question poll related to gun policy and school safety to make their voices heard, and now the results are in.
Here are some highlights:
25,538 students from 3,513 schools in all 50 states and Washington D.C. participated.
Overall, the majority of students support proposed gun control measures. But at least 24% of students do not.
Articles in the Safety in Schools: The Debate Over Guns & The Second Amendment Text Set were viewed by 295,943 students.
The most popular article in the Text Set was Parents and lawmakers are deeply divided on whether to arm teachers.
